BLURB
As one of the few witches in Britain, Mika Moon knows she has
to hide her magic, keep her head down, and stay away from other witches so
their powers don’t mingle and draw attention. And as an orphan who lost her
parents at a young age and was raised by strangers, she’s used to being alone
and she follows the rules...with one exception: an online account, where she
posts videos "pretending" to be a witch. She thinks no one will take
it seriously.
But someone does. An unexpected message arrives, begging her
to travel to the remote and mysterious Nowhere House to teach three young
witches how to control their magic. It breaks all of the rules, but Mika goes
anyway, and is immediately tangled up in the lives and secrets of not only her
three charges, but also an absent archaeologist, a retired actor, two
long-suffering caretakers, and…Jamie. The handsome and prickly librarian of
Nowhere House would do anything to protect the children, and as far as he’s
concerned, a stranger like Mika is a threat. An irritatingly appealing threat.
As Mika begins to find her place at Nowhere House, the
thought of belonging somewhere begins to feel like a real possibility. But
magic isn't the only danger in the world, and when a threat comes knocking at
their door, Mika will need to decide whether to risk everything to protect a
found family she didn’t know she was looking for....
REVIEW
Thank you NetGalley and Hodder & Stoughton for the ARC!
I’M IN LOVE WITH THIS BOOK!
If you want to read a fantasy book but with simple world and
conflict or this is your first time read fantasy, then I really suggest you to
read this book!
Mika is a witch. She live almost all her life alone and
moving to one place regularly because she believe that is the safest thing to
do for herself. Until one day, she got a message to tutor 3 young witches. Of
course she didn't believe it at all because no one knows her as a witch except
her group but with curiosity she came to them. And there, she saw human and 3
young witches live together as family. She decided to help them and slowly she
fell in love with this little family.
This is such a heart-warming book because the characters here
find their family on each other. Mika is a lonely witch and I know she got
trauma by people knowing her true nature. People used her because of her
identity and because of that she didn’t want people to know even though she
really want to live with people who just accept her for who she is. I love Mika’s
character because she’s so mature and can handle the young witches well. I thought
she would be childish but not at all.
And these 3 young witches are so cute! I’m so sorry to forgot
their name (it is difficult to remember and long!) but it is so easy to fall in
love with them. They are so pure and how you expect of a children. Even though
sometimes their mind could be dangerous but still everything they are doing is so
lovable. I love their interaction between each other or with the other adults there.
Not only the young witches but the adult around them also easy to love. Ian,
Ken, Jamie and Lucie are the adult who raise these young witches. All of them
have their own charm and I can love them easily too!
The conflict itself not too heavy. In this book, we follow
more about the relationship between characters and the development of Mika
itself, with her trauma will become one of hindrance. Even though the story is
light and simple, but I’m not bored at all, I enjoy every moment and their
development. In fact, I finished this book just in one and a half day! I can’t
stop the moment I read the book. There are also love story for Mika here but I
love it because it didn’t cover the main story and we get a proper portion for
the love story and the story of these witch.
I love how the author end the story. I give this book 5/5 ⭐ rating! It just so easy for me
to love the story, the characters and everything. If you love found family
trope, cute children within the story lovable characters you must read this!
